We were looking for a quick beach weekend so we chose Port Dickson which is an hour and fifteen minutes southwest of KL. Not know for the prettiest beaches but certainly convenient. Since we grew up on the Gulf of Mexico I knew we wouldn't be disappointed. With all the crystal blue oceans and white sand beaches around here, people have high expectations.
We stayed at Avillion which we had heard was a good family resort. Our room was up on stilts over the water. However when the tide went out we were over sand. The room was nice and had an outside shower. The girls thought that was super cool. The grounds of the place were beautiful. They also had a bird sanctuary and petting farm. The few peacocks on the grounds were amazing. Samantha was even brave enough to pet the bunnies. Emily was not so sure, especially when the chickens approached her.
I have to say the favorite part for the kids was probably the water slide and the sand. Samantha probably went down the slide 50 times. The beach was also nice. It was very well groomed and perfect sand for building "princess" castles. I recently found the princesses from Samantha's birthday cake and they have turned out to be great pool toys. Samantha dives for them and Emily just loves putting them in and out of the buckets.
The most exciting moment was when we put Emily to bed and the three of us went out on our small balcony to eat dessert. Shortly after we shut the doors we see Emily on the inside playing with the knob. Shit, shit, shit. Could she really be smart enough to lock us out? I tried opening the door but couldn't. I start to panic because we are on stilts over the water and our neighbors are not within climbing distance. Luckily Kyle had his phone and started to look up the number to the resort. I tried wiggling the doors again and they finally opened. Crisis averted, although poor Emily was scared inside all by herself.
We made it home relatively sun burn free and everyone was in bed early tonight. Samantha is so excited to go back to school tomorrow. She told me "Mom, we have to get my school bag ready." So she got it out and packed it up tonight. I think she even loaded it in the car. After a two week break I too am ready for school.
Enjoy the pictures.
